Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 10:48:34 GMT

In response to a recent sexual assault and new video of lewd behavior, residents and business owners in downtown Long Beach say the area is deteriorating due to the number of mentally ill and drug-dependent people living on the street.  “It’s daily, it’s daily. It’s scary. You don’t not feel safe walking the streets here,” Zoe Garcia, who works in the area, told KTLA’s John Fenoglio.  Garcia is referring to another disturbing video out of downtown Long Beach where a man exposes himself and masturbates in front of the windows at Salon 500 on East Broadway in broad daylight Wednesday afternoon.  Witnessing the incident from her shop across the street, Garcia called the police.  Video captured a man exposing and touching himself outside the window of a salon in downtown Long Beach on Nov. 1, 2023. Listen to the last new Beatles' song, 'Now and Then'

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 10:48:34 GMT

The final Beatles recording is here.Titled “Now and Then,” the almost impossible-to-believe track is four minutes and eight seconds of the first and only original Beatles recording of the 21st century. There's a countdown, then acoustic guitar strumming and piano bleed into the unmistakable vocal tone of John Lennon in the song's introduction: “I know it’s true / It’s all because of you / And if I make it through / It’s all because of you.” More than four decades since Lennon's murder and two since George Harrison's death, the very last Beatles song has been released as a double A-side single with “Love Me Do,” the band's 1962 debut single.“Now and Then” comes from the same batch of unreleased demos written by Lennon in the 1970s, which were given to his former bandmates by Yoko Ono. They used the tape to construct the songs “Free As a Bird” and “Real Love,” released in the mid-1990s. But there were technical limitations to finishing “Now and Then.”FILE - The Beatles, from left, Joh...

OAKLAND — A wobbly office market in downtown Oakland has prompted a veteran developer to ditch plans for a proposed office tower and instead sell the project site to an East Bay nonprofit. The 11-story downtown Oakland office tower was being planned for a site at 2406 Webster Street, a prime location near Lake Merritt and on the edges of the city’s bustling and trendy Uptown district. The highrise would have totaled roughly 157,000 square feet, according to documents on file with Oakland city planners. That would have consisted of 147,000 square feet of office space and 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.Signature Development obtained final city approval from Oakland city officials for its tower project in 2021.The veteran real estate firm, whose projects include Brooklyn Basin, a dramatic transformation of the Oakland waterfront, had proposed the Webster Street tower project in 2019.2019, however, wound up being the year before the 2020 outbreak of the coronavirus,...
